On Being Christian - Hope on God with an Unwaivering Confidence
| On the heels of releasing yourself from self-reliance should be an unwaivering hope on God. That the lose of self-support is replaced with the uplifting love of your Holy Father above. And above is the very best description - for He is above it all.
As we have discussed earlier, we are soldiers at war. And any general or field commander will tell you that every battle can be won if they knew what the enemy was upto before they attack. So commanders send out scouts to seek out the enemy and report back the enemy's positions, forces and details. So too is this with God. Belief in God is what? Is He superior? Is He all-knowing? Have you actually examined what "God" means to you? The Bible makes it perfectly clear as to what God really is. But this does presuppose that you have read the Bible. Let us imagine you have not. Then what does "God" mean to you? Did He create man? Or was that a random act of nature. And if that is true then what is God to us if not our Father? Our Creator? You see, Christians, regardless of their domination, share one very comforting fact - that we were created by God and as such are loved by God, protected by God, and so very important to God that He gave His only begotten Son for us. So what does God mean to you? Rather than overwhelm you with theology, let us proceed with the fact that God is all-knowing. For it is fair that God existed before you and will exist after you. So just like a parent before us, He knows far more that we do. So now let us progress and accept that He also knows what the enemy is upto. Knows when and where the enemy will attack us and exactly how the enemy will attack. God is prepared to give you this information, you need only need ask for it. But if we ask for it, we must be prepared to accept it as fact. For sometimes things may happen to us in response to an earlier prayer. We should not question the means or method by which God answers our prayers. We may have put forth a prayer simply as, "God, help me to be better person." And so this current battle, this current trial and tribulation is the result of God answering that prayer. For He knows your limits and your strengths, and so this current struggle may be for the Glory of God within you. That you may believe that He truly is not only all-powerful, all-knowing, but also is all love, all mercy, and always present in you. For the faith that is first born out of desperation blossoms, in the face of God's good works, into a true belief that God showers His believers with Grace beyond measure. "How is possible that our good shepherd, who for three years went in search of sheep that had gone astray, calling so loudly that His throat became parched, and following ways so hard and thorny that He shed all His blood and gave up His life; how is it possible, I repeat, that now, if His sheep follow Him, turn to Him with love and call for His help with hope, how is it possible that He should fail to turn His eyes to the needs of His lost sheep? He would take them into His divine arms, and place them among the heavenly angels, and make a welcoming feast for their sake." Each and every one of us will be treated this way without exception. God constantly stands at the door of a man's heart, and knocks, wishing to come in. "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."(a). He stands atop the mountain you are trying to climb, to warn you of the enemy on the other side that mountain. He is trying to get your attention. To warn you of the enemy's intentions. Do not let the day's craziness, noise and demands distract you from hearing his call. ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
